Following extensive discussions by members of the Board and Commissions of the Federation International de Savate, the World Savate Assaut Championships have been postponed. The Championships were due to take place in Weiz, Austria, in September, and would have included the World Canne de Combat Championships and the FISav General Assembly.
Many points were considered in making this decision, including the different situations in each member country, and the difficulties of travel, border crossing, and obtaining visas. In particular, the difficulties for athletes to prepare and for national championships to be held were discussed, and above all, the importance of protecting the physical and psychological well-being of athletes and other participants at the championships.
The International Federation will continue to review the situation and consult with all national federations to decide a new date for the championships.
