On the 30th and 31st August this year, the Canne Travellers Club based in Tűbingen, Germany; hosted a 2-day seminar on Canne de Combat organised by Coach Patrick Zimmermann.
All of the participants attending had previous experience in the Art of French Canne fighting. Clubs represented were the Canne Travellers (Tűbingen,Germany), Canne de Combat Frankfurt e.V (Germany), Canne Club Prague (Czechia) and CAMA Cannists (Cambridge, UK).
Instruction was delivered by Jon West (member of the FISav Canne Commission) along with Jacob West (Cambridge, UK) and Nicole Holzemann and Thomas Horstmeyer (Frankfurt, Germany).
Training sessions included :
- Use of movement in the ring
- Efficiency of technique
- Engagement/disengagement
- Utilising Voltes
- False guard
- Defence strategies
- Arbitre/Judge Training
As is typical at Canne events the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and everyone who participated contributed and shared ideas and experiences together. Old friends and new friends enjoyed learning from each other and developing the sport that we all love. Thanks to Patrick Zimmermann for his hard work organising the Seminar weekend, and hopefully the Canne Travellers will invite us all back again next year!
