The 2026 Junior Canne de Combat Tournament in Dobřichovice welcomed 21 young athletes, highlighting the rapid growth of youth participation in the Czech Republic.

On Saturday, 21st March 2026, the sports hall in Dobřichovice, Czech Republic, hosted the second edition of the Junior Canne de Combat Tournament, organised by Canne Club Prague in partnership with DoDo (Dobřichovický domek), a local organisation dedicated to after-school activities for children.

A total of 21 participants took part in the event, including 19 young athletes aged 6 to 14, who competed across three mixed junior divisions. Throughout the day, competitors engaged in both individual bouts and mixed team matches, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere on and off the piste. The format encouraged not only technical development but also teamwork and sportsmanship, key values at the heart of canne de combat.

The tournament’s development reflects the rising popularity of canne de combat among young practitioners in the Czech Republic. While the inaugural edition welcomed just 7 participants, this year’s turnout of 21 marks a threefold increase in only twelve months. This significant growth highlights the strong momentum of youth engagement in the discipline and positions the Dobřichovice tournament as one of the largest junior canne de combat events organised this year.

Events such as this play a vital role in developing the next generation of athletes, providing young participants with valuable competition experience in a supportive and structured environment. With increasing participation and strong local organisation, the future of canne de combat in the Czech Republic looks promising.
