The Qualifying heats and Junior Finals of the 2025 World Championships in Savate Combat took place in the historic city of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, from 2nd - 6th July. More than 250 participants (athletes, officials and entourage) from 22 countries took place in the event. Unfortunately 5 additional countries could not attend due to visa issues, and Iran was unable to travel as the Tehran airport was closed.
The participants were welcomed by George Tanchev, president of the Bulgarian Savate Federation, and his team of volunteers. The weigh-in took place on Wednesday and the matches began on Thursday morning.
The combats were supervised by an experienced team of officials. Thank you to the officials, to George, and to all the volunteers!
Two age categories were contested for both male and female athletes. Juniors must be 18-20 years old on the day of the weigh-in, and Seniors must be 21-39 years on the day of the weigh-in. More than 160 bouts were programmed for the pool stages, followed by 14 semi-finals.
On Saturday evening, 13 junior finals took place - all athletes competed with energy and determination to get the title of junior world champion! The senior finals will be held during the autumn. The Junior and Senior results are available here
