The 10th Budapest Savate Open was held with a record number of participants on 28 January 2023. After the epidemic period, we had expected more interest, but we didn't expect such a big turnout. More than 200 entries were received and 193 competitors from 24 clubs in 11 countries took part, an absolute record. A total of 163 matches took place in two rings and one tatami.
What was particularly pleasing was that two thirds of the competitors were children, cadets and juniors. The predominantly Assaut rules system was used in 6 matches between first and second series combat rules. Unfortunately, this number of competitors exceeded the limit of the tournament organisation, despite the fact that we were technically perfectly prepared, the changes made the tournament a bit difficult to start, but we learned from our mistakes and will do our best to avoid these minor errors next year.
Held at the same time every year for 10 years, it was a worthy celebration of our tradition and the perfect way to kick off 2023. We'll be back next year!
