This year's Budapest Open attracted a lot more interest than ever before. Participants were aged from 7 years to veterans. The organisers received more than 150 entries from 10 countries and 19 clubs : Austria, Belgium, Croatia, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Serbia, USA and Hungary.
Luckily, the new club location, BEAST ARENA, could handle this great event. Thanks to them, and also to the officials and volunteers. The matches were held in 3 rings. In total there were 128 matches during the day. The majority of matches were in Assaut, but three in Combat.
The host club, the University Boxing Club had a very successful day, with 8 gold and 9 silver medals. The technical level of some of the young athletes was particularly impressive - notably the Hungarian and Belgian athletes.
Overall, Budapest Open has become a very big event, it requires far more energy, but the level of matches and the opportunity to participate in friendly Savate are worth every investment.
