On 8th May 8, 2016, in Montreal, Quebec, all of the Savate clubs in Canada were invited to participate in the Canadian Savate Assaut Championship. This annual championship was held to select athletes for the World Championship to be held in Croatia. Twenty savateurs of all levels competed to win or defend a Canadian title.
Some athletes successfully defended their titles and others lost their titles. Nevertheless, the level of technique at the competition was high. The Wolverines Club of Concordia University and the Escouade Club squad shared the titles. In the next week, the champions, male and female, will be contacted by the national coaches about Canadian team places.
The next competitions in Montreal will be a regional gala, on 11th June, followed by the Jos Montferrand Open, on 12th November 2016, to which all countries are invited.
