FIGHT1 Savate Italy held its national Championship in 2 parts. The first elimination tournament in Genova and the finals in Sesto San Giovanni June 4th 2021.
The highlight of the Savate Combat categories was the match between the emerging talent Paolo Cannito (Nuova Pro Fighting Santeramo) and Pietro Bellini (Fighting Club Valle d'Aosta) that thrilled the watching athletes and coaches.
For Savate Assaut Davide Galleano (Circolo Luigi Rum Genova) and Andrea Saita (European Academy Milan) stole the show putting on a great match. The COVID situation did not stop the Savate Championship even if it made harder for the clubs to participate. There were Clubs from the entire country: from Puglia to Valle D’Aosta with the prestigious Fighting Club V.d.A. represented by the champion Martine Michieletto, and his coach who graduated 2 years ago as a Savate trainer.
The competitors showed technical excellence in both Savate Combat and Assaut giving confidence in the constant growth of the whole movement. The National Championship was the official trial for the selection of the national teams. National Team coaches Alessandro Zini and Domenico Iaia for the Savate Combat and Stefano Gennaccari and Paolo Ferrari for the Savate Assaut are now more than ready to start the preparation of the upcoming international events.
