The FISav International Summer Camp at Terme Olimia welcomed 132 participants from 14 countries for elite Savate training, officiating seminars and international development.

The FISav International Summer Camp concluded successfully at Terme Olimia, Slovenia, after five days of intensive training, education, and international exchange, bringing together 132 participants from 14 countries across three continents. Held immediately after the European Youth Championships, the camp once again demonstrated its growing reputation as one of the premier development events on the international Savate calendar.

Athletes, coaches, referees, and officials gathered from Türkiye, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Germany, Sweden, Finland, France, Great Britain, Malta, and the United States to share knowledge and prepare for the challenges ahead.

With the 2026 World Savate Assaut Championships in Boulogne-sur-Mer and the European Combat Championships in Plovdiv approaching later this year, the camp placed a strong emphasis on high-level technical and tactical preparation. Specialist sessions in both assaut and combat were delivered by experienced international instructors Hrvoje Kišasondi, Antonijo Bošković, David Szabara, and James Southwood, providing participants with valuable insights into modern competition strategies and performance development.

Alongside athlete training, the camp hosted an intensive international refereeing and judging seminar officially recognised by FISav. Head of Arbitrage, Maja Odzic, ably assisted by veteran official, Gerhard Schmitt. combined theoretical instruction with practical exercises in real competition scenarios. The programme was designed both for aspiring international officials and experienced referees seeking to refine their skills ahead of future championships. The seminar concluded with opportunities for participants to undertake the official international examination under the guidance of FISav instructors.

The atmosphere throughout the week reflected the unique spirit of the event, balancing demanding technical sessions with friendship, collaboration, and cultural exchange among members of the global Savate community. Participants praised the quality of the instruction, the excellent facilities at Terme Olimia, and the opportunity to train alongside practitioners from a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels.

Organiser Hrvoje Kišasondi and his team received widespread appreciation for delivering another successful edition of the camp. With attendance continuing to increase year after year, plans are already underway to expand the programme even further in 2027, including the introduction of additional instructors and new educational opportunities. The continued growth of the FISav International Summer Camp highlights the sport's expanding international reach and its commitment to developing athletes and officials alike through education, cooperation, and shared excellence. As participants return home to prepare for the championships, the experience gained in Slovenia is expected to play an important role in their performances on the international stage.
