The Senegal Savate Federation organised a Memorial Tournament for Philippe BASSE, in June, at the Stadium Iba March DIOP, in Dakar. The French clubs of Cannes and Evreux participated.
Born in 1944 in Ziguinchor, Philippe Basse discovered Savate in France in 1968. He quickly became a specialist in fouettes. He won his first fight the French championships. In 1972, he won his first title of European Champion. He remained unbeaten on all rings of France and Europe until 1979 year when he stopped competition.
Currently, the Senegal Savate Federation is working to consolidate and develop trainers and officials prior to the establishment of new national adult and youth teams. We look forward to the return of Team Senegal in international competitions and world championships.
