Responsibilities of the Athlete
As important as it is for athletes to understand their rights, it is equally important to understand their Anti-Doping Responsibilities. To give their athlete the best support, Athlete Support Personnel should also make themselves aware of these responsibilities including:
• Know and abide by the Anti-Doping Rules, policies and practices : FISav Rules and Policies
• Take personal responsibility for everything you ingest – to ensure that prohibited substances do not enter your body and that no prohibited methods are used : The Principle of Strict Liability
• Always inform medical practitioners / personnel that you are an athlete and what your obligations as such are. They should not use prohibited substances or methods, as per the WADA Prohibited List, and that any advice or treatment given to an athlete should not violate the Anti-Doping Rules : Prohibited Substances and Methods
• Be available for testing at all times
• Tell FISav and your National Anti-Doping Organisation if you have committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation within the last 10 years
• Cooperate with FISav and other Anti-Doping Organisations (WADA, ITA, NADOs) in any doping investigations when asked to do so
• Ensure that you do not work with coaches, trainers, physicians or other support personnel who are ineligible due to an anti-doping rule violation (ADRV) or those who have been convicted or disciplined in relation to doping : Prohibited Association List
• Disclose the identity of your support personnel upon request from an Anti-Doping Organisation
