The Azerbaijan Federation of Savate was established in Baku in 2017. From 2 to 5 February 2018, a training seminar was organized. Professor Gennadiy Volovikov, President of the Ukrainian Federation of Savate French Boxing led the seminar. Thanks to the organizational capacities of Azerbaijan's representative of FISav, Mr. Rafig Aliyev, the seminar was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
About sixty sportsmen participated in the seminar and the training took place twice a day, morning and evening. Trainers and athletes, both senior and young, showed great interest in Savate. Mr. Rafig Aliyev received an honorary degree for his contribution to the development of Savate in Azerbaijan.
The country celebrated Youth Day on February 2, and as part of the seminar, there was a visit to the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan. Representatives of Savate met with one of the leaders of the sports department of this ministry - Farid Mansourov, Former Olympic champion in Athens in 2004 in the Greco-Roman wrestling. Baku has several sports facilities, we can recall the first European Games, in 2015. So, there are opportunities to hold major competitions in Baku in the future.
