Savate Seminar in Tbilissi, Georgia

The Savate Federation of Georgia was established in Tbilisi in 2016. From the 2nd to 6th February 2017, at the request of the Georgian Federation of Savate, and with the support of FISav and its president Julie Gabriel, a Savate training seminar was held.

 

The Savate Federation of Georgia was established in Tbilisi in 2016. Professor Gennadiy Volovikov, President of the Ukrainian Federation of Savate French Boxing conducted the seminar.

He was assisted by his student, Vyacheslav Shan'ko, bronze medalist of the 2000 Savate World Cup.
The seminar was held in a good and friendly atmosphere, and covered the techniques of Savate as well as its history and philosophy. It was attended by about 60 athletes of all ages from several regions of Georgia. The youngest competitor was 10 years old. Also, the seminar was visited by the representative of Azerbaijan, Rafik Aliyev, who became interested in the development of Savate in Azerbaijan.
The training was held twice a day, morning and evening. Athletes practiced various strikes and techniques of Savate. At the end of the seminar some participants received diplomas (colour gloves). Igor Denisenko received an Instructor Diploma. Honorary awards were given to Kakha Basilia, President of Georgian Martial Arts Confederation for support of the Georgian Federation of Savate, and Inge Damenia, President of the Georgian Federation of Savate for her contribution to the development of Savate in Georgia.
FISav received a thank you mail from the Georgian Federation which noted the high level of the guidance by Gennadiy Volovikov and his assistant and that this workshop has laid the foundation for the development of savate in Georgia.
