An international Savate training camp was held recently in Morocco, bringing together Moroccan coaches and future judge-referees as part of preparations for the 2026 African Savate Championships. The International Federation working in collaboration with the Moroccan Federations, led by Khalid El Kandili, appointed Mohamed Dehimi, director of PÔLE BOXE 77 – Melun Val de Seine, to organize this high-level training camp in Marrakech.
A Structured and Ambitious Training Camp
Carefully prepared over several weeks, this camp aimed to structure and teach the technical and tactical foundations of Savate, while also providing comprehensive training for referee-judges.
Mohamed Dehimi ensured the quality of supervision by key members of his team:
• Florent Fodener, Head of referee-judge training
• Issouf Kanouté, elite athlete, member of the French national team, World Vice-Champion, World Cup winner, and multiple-time French Champion, responsible for technical and tactical training
• Abdelhak Karmaoui, Silver Glove (Technical Level 2)
A Key Driver for Savate Development in Africa
This international camp brought together numerous Moroccan coaches and future referee-judges from various combat sports backgrounds (kickboxing, full contact, Muay Thai), who came to discover and adopt the technical and regulatory standards of Savate.
The training took place in a highly professional environment, with strong participant engagement, in preparation for the 2026 African Savate Championships to be held in Morocco.
Main Program:
• Theoretical and practical training for referee-judges (gestures, commands, situational exercises)
• High-level technical and tactical training under the direction of Issouf Kanouté
• Practical application in real-life scenarios
Strong Institutional Recognition
The camp concluded with an address by President Khalid El Kandili, who praised the exceptional quality of the training and congratulated all participants, future key contributors to the development of Savate in Morocco and across Africa.
