The Sri Lanka National Savate Federation held its first international event in February 2020. A 3 day seminar was held in a large gymnasium, with an olympic ring, near Kandy. The seminar included how to judge, how to coach and how to fight in assaut and in combat. It was very intensive in such a short time. Sri lankan fighters prefer combat in general but they understood very quickly the importance of a good technical preparation.
This was followed by a 2 day competition. More than 150 people participated. All ages and levels were represented, with a remarquable ambiance. Twenty new Sri Lankan officials faced around 50 combats and 70 assauts and had only one reclamation. Of course there were some small mistakes about the way to give warnings, and the technical level of the young fighters was not always perfect, but the most important thing is the fighting spirit of the Sri Lankan athletes. A very nice opening and closing ceremony gave also a friendly touch and all the foreigner delegations enjoyed them.
