The 15th edition of the Tokyo Open brought together athletes from across Asia and Europe for a successful celebration of Savate in Japan.
Held in Tokyo on Sunday 10 May, the annual competition welcomed athletes from Japan, China, France, and Germany.
Organised each year during the spring season, the Tokyo Open has become an important event for the Japanese Savate community and a valuable opportunity for international sporting exchange. Despite the many challenges currently facing the world, the atmosphere throughout the event was positive and inspiring, with athletes, coaches, officials, and supporters united by their passion for Savate.
One of the highlights of this year’s edition was the inclusion of youth matches featuring children and young athletes, including competitors as young as 12-year-old. Their participation reflected the continued development of Savate among younger generations in Japan and the organisers’ commitment to the future of the sport.
The tournament featured competitive and respectful bouts across multiple categories, with participants demonstrating strong technical skills, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the day.
The organisers thanked all participating teams, officials, volunteers, and supporters for contributing to the success of the event and expressed their commitment to continuing the growth of Savate in Japan through future editions of the Tokyo Open.
