The third Viking Cup was a great event. It was held in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, on 26th May 2018. Five Viking countries participated: Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland and the Netherlands.
The weekend started with a course for the officials taught by Maja Odzic, president of the Arbitrage Commission. Athletes were invited to participate to help their understanding of what judges look for in competition.
From children to veterans, from beginners to world champions, we saw a very good level of Savate. During the competition, 38 assaut matches were held. A warm and friendly atmosphere prevailed between athletes throughout the competition. The team officials worked well, and with the spirit of FairPlay between athletes, there were no reclamations.
The club with the highest score (top four scores counted) was Helsinki, followed by Apeldoorn.
The nation with the highest score (top 6 scores counted) was Finland, followed by the Netherlands.
The first Viking Cup was held in Cambridge, England, in 2016, the second in Castelbar, Ireland, in 2017. Next year, in another Viking country, we look forward to welcoming you!
