The qualifying tournament of the World Combat Championships took place at the "Vendespace" sports centre, Mouilleron Le Captif, La Roche sur Yon, France from 4th to 7th June. The weigh-in was held on Thursday afternoon and evening, with fights beginning on Friday morning. Representing 25 different countries, 40 women, 61 seniors and 36 juniors competed in these championships.
They were supervised by a team of officials, from 17 different countries, who expertly managed the fight scheduling and officiating. Thank you to them!
With three rings and a good team of official fights were finished on Saturday afternoon. The opening ceremony on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. showed us all the nations present. The organizer, Mr. Varnajot, the President of the French Federation, M Dhumez, and the president of the International Federation, Dr Julie Gabriel, gave speeches thanking the athletes, their entourages, the officials and the volunteers. Then the semi finals followed in a climate of excitement, adrenaline and excellence.
Finally, the organizers offered a cocktail reception, followed by a visit to a nightclub in the vicinity to all participants. A big thank you to Jacky Varnajot and Nicolas Metay and their entire team of volunteers for the welcome and the organization.
