Following the qualifying tournament of the 2019 Savate Combat World Championship and the junior finals in Hammamet (Tunisia), from June 12th to 16th, the senior finals were held in Italy, France, Tunisia and Senegal. The months of October, November and December offered us senior finals, for male and female athletes at six venues: Milan (Italie), Vandoeuvre, La Motte Servolex and Perpignan (France), Tunis (Tunisia) and Dakar (Senegal).
As usual, the experienced organisers in France were able to put on exciting shows to packed stadiums. For the first time, FISav held finals in Africa, and thank the organisers for their great efforts to show our sport to new audiences.
In Dakar, we also saw the KFWC Savate Pro qualifiying tournament and the Philippe BASSE Memorial tournament. Born in 1944, Philippe BASSE discovered Savate in France in 1968. He quickly became a specialist in fouettes. He won his first fight the French championships. In 1972, he won his first title of European Champion. He remained unbeaten on all rings of France and Europe until 1979 year when he stopped competition.
We thank all the organizers of the finals for their efforts and their receptions. Particular thanks and congratulations to Mohamed Diaby and Ibrahim Konate of the Mali Savate Federation, who worked with Alphouseyni Djiba and the Senegalese Federation to collect supplies for schools in their region.
Thanks also to the officials and all the teams of volunteers, without them there are no competitions!
